Coming-Out is a queer experience in which many queer individuals, both young and old go through at different stages in different lifetimes. However, when media depicts coming-out it tends to have a narrow view of the subject. In my newest article, I talk about depictions of coming-out in media. Showing how Love, Simon and Happiest Season while here and queer tend to fail to understand the nuances and complexities of coming out of the closet and how we need to have a discussion about telling queer stories that deal with coming-out in more thought-provoking and meaningful ways.
